Jun 5, 2010 · The Glock 19 and XD9 are both fantastic guns. There is nothing wrong with a grip safety just ask the 1911 folks. I prefer the Glock 19 over the XD9 but again both are good weapons. If this gun is primarily for her then go with what she feels more comfortable with. Both guns will get the job done. Maybe get the G19 now and the XD9 later. The Glock's lower bore axis gives it less muzzle flip than the XD, allowing it to be shot faster with good accuracy. 2. The Glock's trigger resets in a MUCH shorter distance than the XD's, again allowing it to be shot faster while maintaining good accuracy. 3.Weight and versatility are the two primary differences. The XDS will weigh about 4ish ounces more. It will also give you the option to get the grip length of the regular 43 with a 7 round mag or a more full grip with the 8 or 9 rounders. I used to be a big XD/XDm fan, Then I compared the Glock 19 to an XD sub compact. pretty similar in size (I think an extra .5 inch on the slide length and .25 height) but the g19 comes with 15 round mag and gives me a full 3 finger grip. That was the beginning of my transition to Glocks.And the aftermarket options are expanding to the point where while glock might have more options still, most upgrades/holsters/changes that people will want are available for both m&p and glock. Where the glocks win out is the sizing of their compacts (the glock 19 is a favorite among responsible armed citizens) and caliber options.The biggest difference between the Glock 19 vs SIG P229 firearms is the firing methods; the Glock is striker-fired and the SIG is hammer-fired. This is the main difference when it comes to triggers and gives two very distinct triggers. Personally, the Sig P229 is a better gun out of the box. Glock wins on the larger amount of factory and after market parts. M&P wins on 3 different size of grip, safety (some ppl prefer). I tend to shoot the XD's better, seems to be my natural point/shoot. ( my preference ). I also reload, and prefer the chamber of the XD's vs the Glock Bulge in the brass.Currently my XD9 SC has the pinky extension which is much better than same magazine without it. Also another difference is that the XD9SC has a flush fitting 10 round or 13 round magazine vs the G26 having a 10 round. That gives the XD9SC a 3 round advantage. The Glock is a great gun and the finish is the best.
